A Mostly Painless Shading Tut

Description

HOKAY.

So, I just decided to do this since I really had nothing better to do. It's quick, messy, but hopefully helpful. Sorry it's ugly, I couldn't be bothered to make it otherwise xD;

My friend asked me how I shade so I made a little tutorial. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

PLEASE NOTE: I am no expert; everyone has improving to do. Actually, I'm far from it; light sources and fur and anatomy still have me caught up in how to realistically shade. But this is the best I can do (or possibly better, since I improvised while making the tutorial and the actual picture's shading is hopefully better)

When I say "keep anatomy in mind", I mean muscle structure and such. Notice which muscles stick out, and which ones don't. For example, the upper arm muscle stands out as opposed to, say, beneath the eyes or between the nose and the mouth.

PLEASE NOTICE when I was erasing the shading here, I did not really pay attention to anatomy or fur. The real shading for this picture was already blurred, so I had to redo it in 5 minutes, thus I just sort of patted it on. This is not really how it should be done... but oh well xD;

Why do I have such messy handwriting?

This is the final product of this piece I have here, and actually was the first piece I drew with this method. The final product has more accurate shading than this little snippit.

Anyways, enjoy.

EDIT: Added little snippits to further explain some of the steps. Redid the introduction.
